The sun was like a heating inferno, seeking revenge upon any life forms that were out on the earth's baking surface. It was almost as if all living things were being punished simply for being on earth, and living. The heat was so harsh, it seemed that most of the frolicking that animals usually did had come to an end. But for one animal, he was not playing around, but baking in the sun's heat.
Being in the fields meant no cover, no shade, and little hope of water if it hadn't rained lately. For the large, rich ebony brujo that walked across the lands, it was torture. His muscles clenched as he walked, his body temperature soaring because his color of pelt attracted the sun's heat far worse than anything else. His weary, electric yellow optics were scanning across the green fields, searching for anything that might help him quench his thirst and give him some shade.
His legs collapsed from under him, and his large frame hit the baking ground with a loud thud. His salmon tongue uncurled from his maw, his breathing coming out in heavy, quick pants. Where was all the water? Why was he being tortured for his traveling? It wasn't as if he could help it that he was wandering aimlessly, but why the need for this unbearable heat? He closed his optics, waiting for some clouds to take over the sun, and hoping for rain.

Raven sat by a small pool of water that had formed from recent rains, though the scorching sun gave no indication of the past drenching. Almost to the horizon, she saw a shape fall. The black fae got up to investigate, smooth pelt rippling like water in a slight breeze. Her green eyes sought out the shape that had fallen, and as she came nearer, she realized it was a brutem seemingly dying of the heat. Morover, he did not bear the scent of any pack. Raven ventured closer.

A scent had reached his nares, even when he was so close to falling asleep from exhaustion. He didn't know whom it was, but he could tell definately that it was a fae. Struggling, Jero lifted his large crania, trying to focus his optics on the shape coming towards him.
All he could tell was that the wolf coming towards him was black. He couldn't make much else out from the heatwaves that were obsecuring his vision. He forced himself to turn onto his stomach, to show that he was not dead, or asleep, and that he wasn't going to be a pushover either. He had been a wanderer for quite a time, and now was not when he was going to be pushed over.
Standing up on shaky pillars, Jero took a step forward, almost collapsing again from the stress.

Raven was concered. The brute seemed on the verge of collapse. She offered her shoulder for support, speaking in a fairly loud voice. "Can you hear me brute? Listen, I can take you to water...that way." She pointed with her nose. The sun beat down all the hotter. "Can you make it that far?" She doubted he could, he looked half dead. Where was he headed? Who was he? But those questions would have to wait until she was sure he would not die of dehydration before he could answer.

Feeling a shoulder near him, he kept most of his weight on his own, but used her shoulder a little to help keep his balance. "I can hear you, and I can make it," he said, his tone sounding completely sure of himself. He knew of what he could do, and he wouldn't give up so easily. Strong blood ran through his veins, and he wasn't about to be beated so easily.
'Water... there's going to be water, Jero. Hang in there,' he thought to himself, swallowing dryly at the thought of a cool drink. The thought was so reassuring; he couldn't wait to get there. Pushing off hard with his back mitts, he started walking strongly, only hesitating so that the fae that was helping him could lead him there.

Raven moved ahead as quickly as she could, making sure Jero kept up. He must be stronger than he looked, to move that fast. Her paws dug into the long grass of the turf to keep from sliding. Inwardly, she found herself admiring his courage and determination when many other wolves would have died.
The water soon came into sight, not far off, a mere pond or puddle, but water nontheless. Raven quickened her pace slightly. "Not far now." she muttered, as much to him as to herself.

Jero struggled to keep his breathing calm, trying to take deep breaths to calm himself and to keep him from passing out. If this fae was sure that the water was close, then he was going to keep going. Taking one quick step after another, his yellow optics kept searching for the water.
Was that it? In the distance, was a puddle, or was it just a mirage? He had been tricked before because of the heat with mirages, and he didn't like them either. "Is that it?" he asked wearily, trying to focus his sight again to make sure that it was really there. His hope that it wasn't a mirage soared, and he started putting a bit more power into his stride, wanting to get there now more than ever.

Raven nodded, her green orbs flicking from him to the water worriedly. "Yes, that's it. Don't worry, it's not a mirage." She quickened her pace along with his, paws choosing the surface where they stepped carefully. "Don't slip, this grass hinders walking." Again, this was to the strange brute as much as herself.
She braced herself against a sudden blast of scorching hot wind. The pond was a mere ten wolf lengths away now. The brute would make it, she was certain.

Jero barely paid any attention towards the grass; he was going to keep his balance. He wasn't going to let blades of grass hinder him from reaching the only source of water that he was going to have.
He was almost there. The fae told him that it wasn't a mirage, and he trusted her completely. Almost there.... he could smell the water he was so close. His parched mouth started to water even at the thought of getting hydrated again.
Then he stepped in it. The fae was right; it wasn't a mirage. Cold, or at least somewhat cold, water seeped in between his paws, and he lapped at the water hungrily. Finally, something to quench his unbearable thirst. Water had never tasted so good to him. He slowed down his rapid lapping, and then picked up his crania, feeling energy flow through his body. "Thank you, m'lady. I am very grateful," his deep voice said, his electric yellow optics shining as he looked towards the black fae.

Raven nodded. "It was nothing. I couldn't let you die so close to water." Her green eyes stared back at him. Now, she could satisfy her curiousity, at least as far as he would answer it. You could never be too sure...
"What your name? And how did you get here?" Raven asked the first two questions that came to mind. Others came crowding after them, but she didn't say them yet, she wanted to keep it slow, so it wouldn't seem like too much. As she waited, she bent her own head to take a drink, though much shorter than the brute's.

Licking his wet maw, Jero rested his weight upon his haunches, listening as the fae questioned him. "Oh! Right! Forgive me for not introducing myself earlier! My name is Jero Sojourn!," he exclaimed, bowing deeply towards the fae. His electric yellow optics glanced up at her emerald ones.
"How I got here?" he repeated, tilting his crania up towards the sky a bit to think. How did he get to this place? "I would guess by chance. I'm a loner, and I've been wandering pretty far," Jero replied, deciding that was where he would end on his own explainations.
"And, if I may be so bold, may I ask of you the same questions?" he inquired, curiosity lingering in his optics, his sleek, ebony tassle swaying.

Raven smiled, meeting his yellow orbs with her owm green ones. "Certainly. Nice to meet you Jero Sojourn. I suppose I have my own story to tell. I came to these lands as a loner, but found several packs already here. I joined Mountainwood. True to it's name, its on a mountain. I'm Raven by the way. I came here for a change. This is neutral terra, where anyone is welcome. Are you considering joining a pack, Jero?"
Raven thought about stopping there, but she added one more question. "have you ever had any other packs? Were you born in one?" Her paws shifted for a more comfortable position in the wet grass around the pond.

Kaylen wandered around in the scorching sun, he streched, yes his tounge lolled out, but the heat had no effect to him really, he loved it. Yes he was a little hot, his orbs flashed with yellow. He had to control himself, even know he was quite content here. With the heat, and no water, even the tinyest surge of lightning could put the grass up in roaring flames. He decided to lie down, on the hot ground, the sun beat on his mixed color pelt. He could see the other two wolves, but said nothing, and did not care at the moment. He was sure they could see him though. His orbs closed, and breathing steadied, as he rested.

Raven lifted her head suddenly as the scent of another wolf reached her. She looked around, finally spotting the figure lying then the grass about a hundred yards away. She looked at Jero, then at the new wolf, and shrugged. The other wolf had every right to be here. The new wolf carried the scent of a rival pack, but this was neutral ground here.

Kaylen streched as he was liying down, his eyes still closed. He was vonerable at this point, but he would know if he was in danger before it got close. He picked his head up and looked at the two, he barked at them barking a hello.
